Daddy's Birthday Night

The day of Adeyiza's birthday the kids I and were busy. We went out and found a cute little cake, bought some decorations, and decorated the kitchen for him. The funny thing was that I got home and what did I forget???? CANDLES!!! Yes- the best part and I forgot them. So after nap we took another trip to the store. I'm not going to pretend I don't do this often. What I've realized is that I go to the store multiple times a week b/c I run out of something- or I totally forget to get something that I needed. Anyway- it got worse when I had kids b/c we ALWAYS need something. BUT- I try to make a list and check it twice before I leave. That usually helps- but not always. OK back on subject. So I worked really hard to have the kids fed, bathed, and in good moods upon Adeyiza's arrival. So far so good!!! He came home around 6:15 and we were all waiting for him on the couch!! The kids were so excited and happy to see him. We all shouted, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!" Of course he was happy!! So he changed into his "pj's" and we sang to him, opened presents, and just had a nice little celebration. I told him we had to do cake before John went to sleep ... so it was perfect for my next surprise!! So....... around 7:00 Adeyiza says , " Someone is knocking at the door!" I said, "Yup - we are going out for dinner!" He was so surprised. I FINALLY surprised him with a date night. I've tried sooo many times but for some reason I always ended up telling him. So we both changed and left for dinner. If you have kids.... you understand now that date nights are GOLD!!!  I know he appreciated it... and honestly so did I!!! I love to enjoy my meals once in a while!! ha ha.  We had a great dinner and then came home. We even saw a beautiful rainbow on our way home. It was so close to our house I tried showing Grace - but too late. It was gone!! I mean- we didn't get home late- it's just the rainbow went away before I could show her. Anyway- that's all!!  Oh and that little cake was SUPER yummy!! We had ours when we came home. Adeyiza is not a sweet person- and for sure not a cake person- but he had 2 pieces b/c it was so good!!

Lake Fun

This was on John's birthday at my parent's house. I took Grace on the wave runner. She liked it at first.... but then wanted to "go to the blue house" shortly after. I thought she would have liked it a lot since she likes to do different things- but not exactly!!!  It was fun though. I enjoyed it!!

We've had a busy week already and it's only going to get busier. Monday Grace had her 6 month dental appointment. She loves the dentist just as much as the doctor. It's crazy!! She loves when they "tickle her teeth". At John's 1 year apt. the doctor said he still talks about how good Grace was and can't believe she said "again" to another eye exam. Then.. at the dentist - they couldn't believe she would just sit still and let them clean, floss, and examine her teethe without moving. It's so funny! I think she will be a doctor or dentist when she grows up!! I mean come on.... it's a sign!! Anyway - then today we had gymnastics, and tomorrow swimming. Thursday I will be getting everything ready for our trip and Friday... we are off!!! That's about it so far. I'll try to post some new pics tomorrow/ John is turning into a hoot!! He is having temper tantrums - yes - throwing himself down to the ground and pouting. When I tel him NO to something- he will look at me and do it again. (normal- most kids do that) But he's just growing up too fast. He's out of the infant stages for SURE!!! My 2 stinkers keep me busy all day. But I love it and so far we are having a blast. We still go to parks and play outside at different places everyday. We've been to the mall a few times- and next week I'm taking them to the Children's Museum. I'm sure they will have a blast!! I may even get a year pass so we can go often. Plus- it's a better deal.

Sleep over time!!!

When Kaitlyn stayed with us I set up the water table and pool. Everything is new to her!!

Then we went to a HUGE park and played. It was a hot day..... perhaps we should have done this in reverse order. OOOPs

John loved all the extra attention!!



Before bed we did our routine!! "Coffee" (Instant Carnation Milk) and the IPAD.

Grace and Kaitlyn play soooo good together. We loved having her here.



Yup... I'm soooo much fun! Nothing like cheese pizza on a Friday night!

Right before nap time Kaitlyn helped me settle these two down. When Grace and John took a nap - Kaitlyn and I played the IPAD. Well she did... she had it ALL to herself so she took advantage.

They both wanted to sleep on the floor together. So we all slept here for the night. Yes... even me. It was her first time- so I wanted her to feel comfortable. John did wake up so I had to go feed him. She realized I was gone and did get a little upset. But thankfully John was a good boy so I was able to sleep the rest of the night with them. The other day I asked Kaitlyn when she was going to stay with us again... she said , "Ummm when I'm 10!"  Ha ha. I know it's b/c she got a little scared. It was cute though. Plus I know she'll be back WAY before she's 10. Now I am going to try hard to rotate the other two cousins. They want to stay the night so bad. Grace always talks about her cousins in Canada too. I wish they were a tad closer I would rotate them in the loop too. It was a great slumber party- they played dress up with my shoes and put on shows for me. Grace loved having someone to play with. They really do love each other and I'm so thankful once AGAIN that we are close to home to be able to do things like this. 

Happy Birthday Daddy!! ..... (tomorrow)

I am doing this tonight because tomorrow will be too busy. I have a lot planned. The kids and I are going to run errands to get a cake, decorations, and a couple presents. So.... I want to say

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!

We will celebrate with him tomorrow!! However... we are going to Chicago next weekend to celebrate. Can't wait!! It seems like every year we've had to skip celebrating his birthday b/c of moving or a baby (John) or SOMETHING!! So this year it's all about him. I'm also going to have the kids make a special birthday card for him. Grace loves singing Happy Birthday.. so I am sure she will be excited too!!!

Part 2 of John's Birthday

Here are most of the pics from his birthday. I have a few more- but I'll do that later. Adeyiza is on his way home so I'm trying to post this before I start cooking!! Late night I guess. I hope he's not this late tomorrow. It will ruin my plans. Ha ha. I told him to try to get out early b/c the kids wanted to sing Happy Birthday to him. So we'll see.

Today Grace got a hair cut. It's wayyyyyy toooo short I could just cry. I told him not too short. I was watching him and thinking to myself  just say something Anna - say something. But I couldn't. So I know it will grow- but man - it is short. Adeyiza is not going to like it I just know it. He wanted it kept long with just a trim. Well me too- but it didn't turn out that way. He even put layers in it which makes it look all choppy.  Anyway- I'm not going to worry about it. It's just hair and it will grow back. Right?!?!?



Birthday - Half today and half tomorrow!!

Gymnastics

I know this picture is small. I emailed it to myself from my phone. Grace had her first gymnastics class today. She loved it!! She was even a demonstrator!! She has on a gymnastics outfit that she sported around!! We had a great time.

Happy 1st Birthday John!

I know it's been a while. I feel like I have so much to catch you all up on .... so I'll start with John's Birthday and then go back a bit.

We had a great celebration at my parent's house. The kids played and played - they had so much fun. John was a good boy and enjoyed ALL the attention. I have LOTS of birthday pics to post but I can't do it all tonight- so I will have to do some tomorrow too. And maybe the next day depending on how tired I am.

I am so thankful we were able to celebrate John's birthday with our family.   I thank my parents for having it at their home- and also I thank my sisters for helping me too. Oh and I can't forget to thank everyone who sent a gift for John. I truly appreciate it.. and so does he.

John had his 1 year check up today. I am thankful that he is a healthy- happy boy. Almost every issue I've had with him is gone. He is one tall boy!! He is 92% for his height. Still low on the charts for weight  - but his height makes up for it. He is overall doing great- so thank God for that!!

Last week seemed to be busy. I tried to blog at night on several occasions- but I was just so tired at night I couldn't. I think trying to keep these two busy all morning and afternoon gets to me sometimes. I love it... but they are busy bees!!! 

Grace had her first swim lesson- she did great and loved it. Tomorrow we start gymnastics. So now every Tues. and Wed. we will be doing something  in the morning while John stays home with our sitter. It's nice b/c Grace and I can have some alone time. Then I will occasionally switch and do something with John. However- he likes to be with Grace so it's not a big deal. Grace LOVES to do things with mommy!! Plus- I do too. She'd at such a fun age. Well they both are I guess- but you know what I mean.

We also had our first cousin sleep over on Thursday night. Kaitlyn came to stay with us. They had a BLAST!! It was so much fun. I have cute pics of that too- I will post those later as well. They loved playing dress up with my shoes- they got along so well. Kaitlyn was a great helper and it was actually easier to have her here. I plan on rotating them more often. I always wanted to do that. I am glad Erin eventually let go of the chain. Ha ha. 

Father's Day was nice too. We were still up at the Lake so we went to church with mom and dad. We came home and we had a huge breakfast. We left around 1 to come home. We then celebrated Father's Day here too. The kids got daddy a few things!!!

Adeyiza's Birthday is Thursday- so the kids and I are going to go get balloons, cake, and decorations for him to come home to. He doesn't know this but I have that night planned out too. I have a surprise babysitter coming over so we can go out to eat. We won't be too late b/c I know Grace will want some birthday cake. Just a couple hours away to eat is all. I know he will like that. He doesn't read this blog so he won't know.

OK that's enough for tonight. I'll try to keep up. I know the feeling to check a blog and they don't update it!!  Ha ha .. I have like 5 blogs I check daily and when they don't update I'm bummed!!! Good night!!

Keeping Cool!!!

This is our "WOW it's hot today" treat!! These two love a nice cool Popsicle on a hot day! Well... I guess I do too. John will eat one or two bits and then that's it!! I finish it for him. This weekend went fast. We didn't do much Friday- but then Saturday my parents came for a visit. Well actually they were in town for graduations and then offered to watch the kids for a date night!! Yah! Gotta love that! It so happened that we got invited to one of his coworkers house- so it worked out perfectly!! Today was a nice day. Hot- but we had the pool out and of course the Pirate water table. I am probably going to take them to the lake tomorrow or Tuesday. It's about 20 minutes from here and is pretty fun. They have a water sprout area and a playground. They had a blast last Friday- so we will have to do it more often on these hot days!! 

Daddy's A Princess!!!!

This was so cute!!  I put John to sleep and came downstairs and cracked up when I saw these two!! Grace kept saying, "Daddy's a princess! Daddy's a princess!" It was so funny!! Gotta love these moments. 

We had a great end of the week. We went to the water park Wednesday, last day of school Thursday, and today I took her and John to a lake/water park with her friend Luke. Yes- I did cry her last day. It was sad for some reason. But it went well. We will have a great summer together. 

Almost Over!

So.... one day left of school. I am a bit sad. I think she will miss it- or perhaps I will!! Ha ha. No I'm excited to have her home daily - we will have fun. As long as she doesn't cry, talk back, be mean to John, or yell to purposely wake him up we will be OK!! Not that she does ANY of those things..... (yes she does- and it's not cute when it's happening!) Anyway - we are busy these next few weeks anyway- so it will be good.

Next weekend we are having John's 1 year birthday at my parents lake house. It's not a huge party- just family. When they are really young- I feel no need to go all out. The day will come when they will want a big party with lots of friends. So until that day- family, food, and that's it!!!  He is doing good. I am thinking he's gained more weight. Possibly 21 lbs now. These days he is wearing 18mths clothing.  He is tall! When he is standing up he is to Grace's shoulder. I think he will be one tall boy!!! He is saying words like, "Wa wa, da da, mama, Uh oh, waves bye-bye, (while saying a "b" sounds), No no (na na). He dances, tries to sing, and is just changing daily. Anyway- I'm tired and think I'll go to bed early. 

Silly Boy!!!

John will walk walk walk and then get on knees. It's so funny!! He will kneel down and then stand back up. He's even kneeling down to pick stuff up and then standing up to walk again.

Grace has only 2 more days of school left. I am kind of excited... but yet sad. I think she will miss it. But- she starts her gymnastics and swimming next week so it should make up for it. I am pulling her out of school on Wednesday to go to a water park. I wanted to go before ALL the school kids get out. It looks like a nice water park- and it's just down the street from us. So I hope we all have fun. I will try to  take pics. My friend Sally and her daughter will be joining us. I'll keep you all posted on how her last week goes.
