Graduation Night

So most of you knew we had to go to the U of M Plastic Surgery Graduation Friday night. It was a great night- I mean, a nice meal (that I could eat still hot and uninterrupted), good conversations, relaxed environment, No kids (of my own), and over all just a nice time. Surprisingly- Adeyiza received an award!!! We were so surprised. It was called Best Clinical Teaching Award  in Plastic Surgery 2012. I was so proud of him. What this means is that all the residents voted for him on this award. I know he would probably kill me if he knew I was posting this- but I am a proud wife and wanted my close friends and family to know. He is not the type to tell anyone about his accomplishments - so if he won't... I will!! ha ha.  Anyway it was a great night!!!

Thank You Grandma!!!

Mummy has been with us all week and it's been great!! We really appreciated all her cooking and help with the kids!  I know they will miss her. As you can see in picture 1 and 2, John has really found her cooking interesting! It's so funny. He would follow her to the kitchen and hang on her legs. He always wanted her to pick him up so he could see what she was doing. Grace LOVED her braids!! She kept touching them and looking at them. So cute!! Anyway- we take her to the airport tomorrow. The time goes by too fast. Until next time I guess!!! We will miss her.





Park Days

We are packed and ready to head to my parents house. Well.... I'm not. YUP- the kids are going alone.!! We have an event tomorrow night, so they agreed to take them overnight. I appreciate it sooooo much!! I am a little anxious- BUT I can't wait to sleep ALL night!! John has been a stinker at night again... so I'm a little excited to get some sleep.  It's my mom's bday so we are driving up to get them Saturday and celebrating her day while we're there. Glad to be able to do things like this!!! It should be a fun weekend!!!

This is what our yard usually looks like. Although I am content, I can't wait until we have a big FENCED in yard where they can run and play. But until then...... we will be just fine!!!

It's been great having Adeyiza's mom here with us. I have lots of pics but I'll post them later. John LOVES watching her cook. He follows her around the house. He will kneel and just look up at her. It's so cute. He even stayed with her today while I ran to get Grace and DID not cry!! I was so surprised. He ALWAYS cries when I leave. Anyway- we appreciate all she is doing and my freezer is already FULL!! It's just WONDERFUL to have food already prepared for us.

So.... Grace went back to school on Tuesday. ON the way there she said - "Bre hit me in my eye!" I said - "Yes she did- she was naughty and she will not do it again!' Grace said - "Can I hug her?" I said - "Yes- that's a good idea, you need to forgive her. If she does it again Mom will come get you!" Grace says - "My eye is all better!"  Then we walked in the door. She was fine and had a great day. Today I go to pick her up.... the teacher comes out and kind of smiles. I said "Oh no- What?" She told me that Grace was leaning back in her chair, fell back, hit her head and cut it, and had a big bump. She said it just happened and really didn't cry. I said- oh my... ok!! She was ok though. Had a pretty good size bump and a bloody cut but we washed it away and she is feeling fine.

John is doing Great!! He is being so silly!! He LOVES being chased. If I get on my hands and knees he runs and giggles. It's so cute. I should try and record it one day! oK that's all. Time for bed.

Snack Time

Grace and John LOVE apples!! John doesn't get much... but he still has fun trying!! This was on Friday. We got the pool and water table out. Summer fun!!!  They are both doing fine. Grace's eye is great and John hasn't had a flare up in a while. Still a little itchy- but nothing serious!! Yah!! We are laying low this weekend. We played outside, went to a few parks, and tomorrow Grace is getting her hair braided and then Grandma is coming from Winnipeg!! We can't wait. I will post pics of her visit and Grace's hair soon!!

I Am All Better!

Grace is saying, "All Better!" in this picture!!! We went for her check up and the doctor was surprised that the scratch was completely gone!! The picture the doctor drew the day before was so big he thought he was going to see something. But- I know the human eye heals the fastest!!! (This was told to me by multiple people!) The cutest part was when he was all done - Grace looked at him and in a quiet cute voice she said, "again?". He started laughing!! I told him that she always wants to come see him and that she LOVES the doctor!! It's so cute. She did so well during her exam. Doesn't even move while he's doing stuff to her eye. I told him he could probably do anything and she wouldn't care!! ha ha. Anyway- we thank God for this healing and she will be going back to school Tuesday. I know things happen- she will be ok!!! 

Yes... this was the SAME day!!!

We started the morning baking muffins together, packing lunches, and going to school!!! My sitter came so that I could go running and run some errands. Just before I started shopping.... I got the call... "Hi this is Go Like the Wind (Grace's school) a kid hit Grace in the eye and her eyes are rolling to the back of her head, the teachers would like you to come get her  - they don't know what to do!" Yes- in those exact words. So of course I start crying and drive like a crazy lady. All while making a doctor apt. for her. Do you know how annoying it is to be behind a SLOW driver when you're trying to get to your injured kid? Very ANNOYING!! But- I hurried all while trying to be safe too. So I get there and run to the door- I look at her and her poor eye was red and she was in a daze. I pick her up and she doesn't say a word. I have to admit- I was scared. The teacher was telling me what happened- and I just said calmly - she won't be back tomorrow- and maybe not at all, we'll see how her doctor apt. goes. She said she totally understood and to keep them posted. So during all of this John is with our sitter- Thank God! I would have had to drag him along trying to hold the two of them. Do it often and it's not fun when they are sick or hurting- so I was thankful our sitter was over let alone told me to take my time and that she could stay longer. Few!! Anyway- we get to the doctor and she had an eye exam. The doctor put some dye in her eye that would show any marks, cuts, or scratches. (Oh and did I mention that her eyes kept rolling to the back of her head - I asked the doc. why and she said it's painful!) OK so she showed me the Cornia and it had a big scratch on it. I felt so bad for her. She would  look at me and say, "help!"While her eyes would roll - not good!! So the doctor put some ointment in her eye- and made her a patch. (It came off at home- so I made her one myself... I know .. Lesson #128249  - HAVE A MEDICINE KIT!) So we left and went to get the prescription. We came home and she was pretty grumpy and tired.  I gave her some Tylenol (doc said) and then she took a 3 1/2 hour nap. She needed it! And when she woke up she seemed much better. Still a little bothered- but overall better. I have to put drops in her eye 3 times a day. She HATES it!!! But I know it's good for her. So she just went to bed and tomorrow we go back to the doctor for a check up.

I was going back and forth about sending her to school ever again- but what I came to realize is that overall she loves her school and I just can't pull her with 8 days left. I already e-mailed the teacher and she had a very positive response. She also mentioned that the little girl did get talked to and so did the parents. I also wanted to make sure Grace wasn't getting bullied by her or anyone!! She assured me this was not the case and that she has really opened up this year and voices her opinion and has made lots of friends. She went on and on- -- it was a nice e-mail and I know Grace will be fine. It's just hard as a parent to have stuff happen to your kids. But I always know it could be worse- and I am thankful it wasn't a pencil or something that could have caused major damage. In conclusion - she will be going back to school, I know that things will happen- and by running away from them is not ever going to help the situation. Grace is a gentle sweet girl and these problems may be with us for a while. BUT I am thankful because she is ok- and it taught me to be patient and that I need to relax too sometimes. Thank God she is ok and that it's something that will heal quickly!!! I will keep you all posted!!!

Sad John...Happy John

This was Sunday before church. He is so happy until it's almost time to go. He gets tired and wants me to hold b/c it's his nap time- but sometimes I can't. So he will follow me around crying until I pick him up. Silly boy!!!

We had another play date with Grace's friend Luke today. We went to his house again - because they have a BIG fenced in yard! We stayed for about an hour and then came home. We are taking them to a water park June 6th. John will stay home with our sitter. It's just going to be Luke and his mom - Grace and I.  I can't wait!!  I love water parks and I guess this one is just down the street. I was looking at  our calendar in June and WOW are we busy!!! Grace has her gymnastics Tues. (oh with Luke by the way- they are signing up too!! Can't wait.) Wed. swimming lessons- and then I have a few play dates to science museums, camps, trips to the blue house, Chicago trip for Adeyiza's bday, John's bday, John's dentist apt., John's 1 year apt., another allergist apt. (just a check up), and many other things. Busy busy!!!! Love it though!  

Yippy!! Book Day!

 

A while back my mom told me about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. It's great! You sign up and they send you a free book each month for each kid in the house under the age of 4. (Oops I think - I forgot the age limit.) But anyway- the books are so nice and they love getting them in the mail. Well Grace does..... John doesn't have a clue. Actually in this picture Grace has John's book and John has Grace's book. Ha ha!! Whatever- as long as they  are reading it doesn't matter!

I love the book Grace has called  " Little Loon and Papa" . I've read it now 100 times! I do love "Corduroy" too. It's an oldie but goodie!

They are doing great. John is eating better everyday! His favs right now are: string cheese, yogurt, crackers, peas/carrot (soup), still spaghetti, noodles, plantain, rice..... ok just about anything. He at least tries most things - oh his favorite fruit... PEACHES!! Loves them! I love that he's eating and actually enjoys it. Makes life easier all around!

We went to a big park this afternoon after nap. It's  about 7 miles away but super nice! It's huge and Grace loves it. John is starting to have more fun at parks now too. It's nice to be able to let him walk around. Grace loves to swing on the big girl swings all by herself. On her tummy of course. Tomorrow I think we will try a NEW park about 30 minutes away. It all depends on John boy. He didn't take an afternoon nap today - so I had to go to a close park so that he wouldn't fall asleep in the car. That would not be good!! Then he would be up late. NOT happening!! I managed to keep him up the whole 10 minutes. After we get home from a hot afternoon at a park- the 3 of us sit outside and have a Popsicle. John eats it soooo funny! He is a slurper. I have to tape it one of these days. OK ... time for bed!



John Boy

So we went to the allergist today and the good news is that he is not allergic to anything as of yet!!  I say yet because he is still young and could develop allergies- but so far we are in the clear. He just has Eczema and Pysisiorisa Ros ea. (Ok so I forgot how to spell it- but it's a rash.) So that's it!! The doctor even said he thought his skin looked great and that he's seen much worse. John was doing his "itch attack" while we were there - so he gave me a new prescription to try to help calm his itch. He took a great nap today- so I am hoping it will relax him tonight. Other than that- he grew and even gained a few ounces so I am thankful. I just need to keep putting thick lotion on him and follow a few "eczema" rules- and that should do it. He is eating more foods- and now I am starting to give him whole milk. He will be on whole milk 100% by the time he's a year.

We went to a new park again today. John had a long morning, so I thought we should do something fun this afternoon. We didn't stay too long- it was looking like rain so we took off early. But we still had fun and then played outside. That's all!!

Can you believe how grown up she got in 1 year? The top picture was in the beginning of the school year - and this is her new one. I just can't get over how much she changed.

I wasn't going to order any the second time, but when I got the proofs back- how could I resist. She actually missed picture day - so this was picture retake day. Ha ha ... of course .... the day I have her in a t-shirt with her pink leggings. I would have loved a summer dress... but oh well I love them anyway!! That smile is something else!!



Thinking Girl

Wow has this weather been nice or what? We've been enjoying every second of it. Well kind of... we went to the park today and the mosquito's were out. Ouch!! We had to turn around and come back home. I really don't like it when they start coming out. I still swell up when I get bit and so does Grace. So..... I hope this summer it's not too bad with bugs or we will be in for the most part.

Tomorrow I take John to an allergist. We want to see if his skin problems are b/c of any allergies. I don't think it is, but you never know. His skin has been better- but still very bumpy and he's itching all the time.

So far this summer Grace will be doing swimming and gymnastics. I know she will have a blast with both- I can't wait!!

Grace was feeding John her ring pop!! It was so cute! John kept wanting more. He makes this noise when he wants something,... so he kept  doing it. She didn't seem to mind it though. Which is good.... since she loved her ring pop!



I Am 11 Months Old Today!

John is 11 months old today. Wow- 11 months!!! Where does the time go??? I just don't know. He is doing great these days. Eating, sleeping, playing, laughing, talking, (well babble talk), walking, and just being silly. He's getting such a cute personality. He looks at me and smiles with all 4 teeth. Oh and 2 more top ones are on the way. He also knows what he wants when he wants it. The two of them do fight over toys now...already!?!?! Anyway - we didn't do much today just went to the park and played and then a nature  walk. We have a trail in the back of our house that our neighbor told us about... but let's just say we probably won't be doing that again. OK that's all for now. Can't believe another week is almost over. See... time flies when your having fun!!! 

Grace's New Friend

Grace and her friend Luke had a play date today. They go to school together and love playing with each other. He is such a sweet boy! They had a lot of fun at their house. John had fun too. He LOVED the sprinkler. Grace... not so much. She liked it a little bit- but not as much as John. We will definitely be getting together with them from now on. She even cried when we had to go home. She told me to go away- that's nothing new though!! She always tells me to go away when she wants to stay somewhere. Silly girl!!! Love this weather..... we will be outside EVERYDAY as long as it stays like this!!!

Actress on the WAY!!

Is this top picture not the cutest little sad face you've ever seen? So she did get a big boo boo under her eye, at the top of her head, and her knee, but when I went to snap a picture of it I told her to make a sad face for me. She did... followed by a happy face. It was sooooo cute!!! I just look at it and crack up. I told her she was going to be an actress when she grows up!! 

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone that is  a mother!! Happy Mother's Day to my mom and my mother-in-law!! 

We had a great weekend together. The "kids" spoiled me and we had a lot of fun together. We all went out to breakfast yesterday and then church and grandma's house today.

I am so thankful for my two children and I will continue to be. They've changed my life in so many ways that if I wrote about it..... we'd be here all night. So, let's just say I love them to pieces and thank God for them daily. I still look at them and can't believe they are mine. I hope they will be ready for me to join them when they go to college.  Ha ha......I try not to think about those days. Just keep pretending they will always be here at home with their momma!! 

I Can Read!! Can You?

I know a long time ago I had posted pics of Grace (when she was the only child) doing this I can Read program... as seen on TV.... so.... now it's John's turn!! Ha ha. They don't sit still very long - but I thought I would take  a quick pic while they were.  

Good Morning!

 

This was in the morning today before we took Grace to school. They looked so cute together so I snapped a picture. It was pretty nice out today so after nap we went to the park. John is having a ball now that he can walk all around. (I think I said that before - but not sure. ) Can't believe it's Friday again. We don't have anything planned for the weekend. Oh we are going to my grandma's for Mother's Day. My parents are on a trip so we won't see them, but we will be seeing some family- so that's nice. Grace and John love to see their family- and love to see Chase (my aunts dog). They have been healthy for a while now (nothing John ever has is contagious) so I am glad b/c we will be seeing our new baby cousin. That's about all for now.

So... I have a MUST try drink. Now don't knock it until you try it. It's Silk (soy milk) but it's the Fruit & Protein one. I've had the berry and Mango one. It's so good!! I've tried not to drink milk or eat dairy this week (long story) so I found this alternative that's sooo yummy!! It's almost taste like pure juice- but it's not. Grace loves it and it's so healthy. It's also my alternative to juice for the kids. Just try it.... money back guaranteed.   :-)
