Brusha Brusha Brusha!!

Well Grace can't roll over yet,,,,, BUT she can brush her teeth! This idea was given to me by Myra. She said she gave Grace a toothbrush once to chew on and she loved it! So, while I am getting ready in the mornings,,,,, Grace is enjoying this toothbrush!! Whatever works I guess!!!

Her shirt says Wolverine Fan,,,, which is Michigan's mascot. Most of my friends didn't know what it meant or that it was a MI shirt. So just FYI!! :) Oh and check out her hair! Yes,,,, it continues to grow. I need to go get different hair items to mix it up a bit. I just realized that she's had one hair style. WOW,,, I need to get with it and get that hair styled in different ways! She's got it, so now I need to WORK it!!!

Ok no I am not one of those crazy teacher moms who teaches my kiddo everything from birth,,,,,, OR AM I??? I didn't think so, but perhaps a little bit. Is it the teacher in me? Or the pressure to have Grace do well? I don't know,,, BUT what Grace is watching right now is that I Can Read Program. OH yes,,,, the one we've all seen on T.V. where the 6 month old can say words, and the 9 month old can read. Adeyiza's mom sent it to me, so I guess I didn't purchase it myself, but I am trying to keep up with it. We will see how it goes. Don't be surprised MICHIGAN folks if Grace can read the next time you see her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Time Fun

We are really enjoying this Texas weather. I just love it. I am going to miss these hot days this time of year. Grace loves it too!!! I can't believe my lil' Texan is about to leave the state she was born in. Texas will always be a special place to us.

Sittin' Pretty

Thank you cousin Kaitlyn!!! I just love all clothes my sister gave me from my niece. It always reminds me of her. I can remember when she wore certain outfits that I put Grace in. How cute is that!!! Hand me downs,,,,, Grace is so lucky! Anyway, she is doing great. Her nose seems to be getting a tad better. It's not as runny, but you can still hear the snoring/load breathing sounds. So we'll see. I still have 26 more days on the medicine. So maybe by the end of it he adenoids will be back to normal size. She is in good spirits though, so I can't complain. She is starting to get her own little personality. It's so cute. She grunts at me, screams at me, and lets me know when she WANTS me. She also pinches very hard. I keep trying to keep up with her nails, but to tell you the truth, I hate cutting them. It's one of the scariest things I have to do to her. I think only b/c I nipped her once, and that was enough for me. Myra is so kind to do this for me when need be. I just don't care to do that at all. BUT sometimes when she gets pinching, it hurts so bad,,,,, that I just don't have a choice!!!!!!!!!!!

Just Another Yummy Meal!

I think Grace likes the "clean up" part the best after she eats. I wipe off her face, take her bib off, and let her sit naked for a bit. ( When she's not eating with clothes on that is. Most of the time she is dressed.) So I tried avocado last night and the night before. She did ok. Still not exactly the "gobble it all up" reaction that I'm looking for, but she's doing alright. Breakfast seems to be her favorite. I've been feeding her oatmeal with a little bit of fruit. She seems to like that. I am not sure if it's the fruit part or the oatmeal. I am not putting too much fruit in just a tad to get this whole eating thing on the road. I know she still prefers her bottle, but she needs to get used to eating and drinking out of a sippy cup. So,,,, we will keep working on that too.

Last night we all went out for dinner. YES - the first dinner we went out for. So,,, so far we've done one breakfast, and one dinner. That sounds so bad, we need to get out more I guess. Anyway,, she did soooooo good. I didn't even have to pull out any of my "distract her" toys. She loves to look at people, stare at my food, and chew on my straw. Since she still can't sit up yet I just hold her and eat. Eventually it will be nice when she can sit in a chair. Oh well,,, it's fun to all go out. Another week ahead. Wow.,.,.. May is just around the corner. Can you believe that????

Grace,,, Are You Serious???

Now it's getting a bit ridiculous. OK- Yes,,, I love when she chews on her toes, but now,,, it's WAY too much!!! Even during her bath time. However,,,, it's just so cute,,,, I know!!! Today we went to the ENT doctor. She has swollen adenoids. So I have her on two types of medicine. A nose spray and a pill. Perhaps someone has a great idea on how to give her the pill????? I dissolved it in water,, and then gave it to her like a drink,,, but that's not working. I think I may try the "Wilhum" way. (my old dog). I gave him a pill before. Just take the pill, push it down his throat, close the mouth, and BAM,, no choice but to swallow unless you want to suffocate. Anyway,,, I am not sure Grace will like that. I will have to think creative!!!! She is doing good though. She is resting now,,, I will wake her up shorty so that she goes to bed early!!! TGIF

I'm Sitting Up!!!!

OK- so it looks like Grace is sitting up alone. Well,,,, yes she is,,, however this only lasts for ,,, ummmm,,,, about 3 seconds. So I quickly took a picture. BUT---- we are making progress. She is getting better!!!! One step at a time,,, one day at a time!!!!

I keep trying to feed Grace. Some days is ok, and other days it's not so good. She just doesn't seem to like eating as much as I thought she would. I thought she would just love it, but maybe it just takes time. Tonight she ate beans. Beans,,,, I can tell,,,,, have not been her favorite. She doesn't even open her mouth at ALL!! So,,, I know,,.,, I know,,,, they say try one food for 3 days. BUT..... I just had to try bananas. OH MY!!!! She loved them. She kept opening her mouth. SO now I know that when she really likes something, she likes it! She never ate anything as fast as she did the bananas. Great,,, that means she has the Hackett sweet tooth. I actually had to cut her off . Tomorrow I think I am going to go back to the veggies,,,we'll see!! I may just give in to her sweet little face!!!

YUP,,,,, Mommy and ME!!!

Well,,, here we are!!! We were on our way to church. Grace didn't make it through the whole service this week, but she did make it through her first "out to eat" experience. We decided to take her out for brunch. She did so good! I guess we should make it a habit!!!!!

Come On Grace,,,, You Can Do It!!!!

We are still working on her floor time to develop those upper body muscles. In time,,,, I know. I just keep trying to get her to roll over , sit up, stand up on my lap, or something! I am very thankful she is healthy, so I am not complaining,,, just excited and want her to get on with it!!!!! But,, in the mean time, we will keep playing and practicing. We had a great day today. Yes,, she ate pears, but she didn't seem to like them as much as peas. So we'll see!!!!!

I am 6 months old today!!!!!

Well today is the day!! Grace is 6 months old. I just can't believe it. So,,,, the paper didn't last long. Once she eyed it,,,, it was over! She wanted to eat it up. She is still eating at dinner time. I think peas are her favorite veggie so far. I want to give her pears so bad, but I am trying to do veggies first. I just know she will love the sweetness of them. Another day at home. Myra is still sick, so we will be here tomorrow too. I am getting lots of cleaning done though, so that's good. We've had a great week together so far, so that's a bonus!!!

Just Because!!!!

I love taking pictures of her as she sits up like a big girl. She is still not able to sit alone, but we are working on it. I actually can let go of her for a few seconds. She will balance for a minute,, then BAM either head first or on her back!!! It's cute though. She is taking a nap right now. Today and yesterday she took a long afternoon nap so I was able to clean and get some house chores done. Myra has been sick, so I have been home with her for two days. Adeyiza is in Boston trying to find a place for us to live next year. WOW,,, I need to start packing and getting us ready for this change. Grace will be 6 months in 2 days!!! I will need to take those pictures next. Be looking for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are Friends Now!!!!!

I just wanted everyone to know that Grace has finally agreed to be friends with the giraffes. It took almost 4 months to do so, but better late than never!!!

I Can Eat My Feet!!!

Grace started chewing on her feet last week. It was so cute! It's like a built in toy. Wow cheap too!! She still has a runny nose. The allergy medicine didn't help much. I just made an ENT (ear/nose/throat) doctor appointment for next week. Perhaps they can help with this problem. Other than that,,, she's good to go. She ate peas last night. She loved them!!!!

Church Time!!

OK I know this is my 3 post, but I am making up for slacking. This was in the morning. We all made it to church. Grace is getting better each time. She stayed now for the 3rd Sunday in a row,,,,, the whole entire time. GOOD Girl!! I am very happy she is getting used to other people other than Myra and I. Another week ahead of us. Wow these weeks are going fast. I am excited on one hand,,, but sad on the other!!! However,,,,, I am ready for a NEW chapter in our lives!!! Out with the OLD,,, in with the NEW!!!!
